Huon Pine - is arguably the most well-known of the Tasmanian timbers. Huon Pine presence a rich golden colour and figure that makes it one of the world’s most desirable furniture and veneering timbers. Not only is Huon Pine beautiful to look at, but it is also considered extremely durable, and its workability makes it one of the best materials for boat-building. Huon Pine wood contains a natural preserving oil and its fine and even grain make the wood exceptionally easy to work with hand tools.

Tasmanian Oak - is the preferred hardwood for a wide range of applications. Tasmanian Oak works very well and produces an excellent finish for a variety of purposes. It can be used in all forms of construction and can be glue-laminated to cover long spans. Tasmanian Oak is light in colour, varying from straw to reddish brown with intermediate shades of cream to pink.

Blackwood - is often considered the perfect timber for fine furniture, joinery or feature flooring. Blackwood comes in a variety of colours which span from light golden-brown to deep brown, and occasionally showing black streaks. This gorgeous Tasmanian timber often shows subtle beauty that makes it irresistible to Tasmanian designers of timber gifts.

Celery Top Pine - is a durable and tough timber. It is often used in flooring as it has an attractive fine-grained appearance with feature knots, while remaining highly durable. Celery Top Pine is creamy white when freshly cut and darkens to a mellow rosy gold hue over time. This Tasmanian timber is light and easy to work with for crafters.

Myrtle - is a striking timber that makes an excellent veneer and finishing timber. Myrtle is often used in high-quality furniture, joinery, and cabinet-making. The rich colour of this beautiful timber is said to come from the quality of the soil it grows in. The colour is vibrant and its fine aesthetic qualities are matched by its working properties. Because of its breathtaking finish when polished and treated with care, it is a timber which is prized by architects and furniture makers alike, but it also has further applications for craft workers and those making gifts and Tasmanian gift ideas.

Sassafras - is available in two major groupings – Golden and Blackheart – Of all Tasmanian timbers, sassafras has the most variable and dynamic colouring. It is a stunning and pale creamy grey to white but can be streaked with browns and black heart. Finishing to a grey and golden tone, golden sassafras is considered ideal as veneer or as a solid timber. If the tree is infected with a staining fungus it produces Blackheart sassafras which is highly prized for decorative work and bowl turning as no two pieces are ever the same.

Radiata Pine - is versatile and often used for structural and decorative applications. When treated correctly, Radiata Pine can be used for many exposed structural and non-structural applications as well. It is considered to be very easy to work on with standard tools and its open grain structure readily accepts preservative treatment.
